“I never thought I could grow more than cattle, but now my farm is thriving in new ways.” Dondo farmer

Since July 2024, 68 farmers at our YA Dondo Agritech Centre have been learning vegetable, cereal, and poultry production, as well as yoghurt processing - all using climate-resilient methods.
Through our mobile training and wellness outreach, we bring more than vocational skills.
We bring hope & healing to young people and communities who might otherwise face their struggles alone.
We continue our spotlight on women in business, and this time we’re in Angola.

Joana Cassoneco, 21, grew up in a neighbourhood where life was tough. Her father is blind, her mother’s income is small, and opportunities were few. But Joana had a dream.

In a region heavily scarred by war and climate disasters, choosing poultry farming is a symbolic choice.

That’s why Paulino in Montepuez, Cabo Delgado, Mozambique, chose poultry farming, feeding his family, supporting his brother’s education.

In Mozambique, we watched something powerful unfold. Through the Skills2Live youth entrepreneurship bootcamp, young people came face-to-face with employers and they showed up with ideas, with courage, with purpose.
Friday marked the final pitches of the climate change Hackathon during which youth from Cowdray Park, Bulawayo, Zimbabwe worked together to generate new ideas to combat climate issues in their communities.

3 winning teams each walked away with $500 in startup support to grow their green ideas!
This past week we joined young minds in Cowdry Park, Bulawayo, Zimbabwe to tackle the climate crisis. From waste management to green energy, over five days there was learning debating and dreaming big — guided by climate and sustainability experts.
“Avoid plastic pollution, preserve the environment” – Young Africa Mozambique marked this call with a powerful clean-up at Bisques and Estoril beaches, removing over 30 tons of plastic and waste from the shoreline.

Hope is taking root in four corners of Nigeria. 🌱

In Abuja, Lagos, Ondo, and Anambra, 500 young people have already begun vocational and entrepreneurial training through the Youth Employability Booster (YEB) Project in partnership with Mastercard Foundation.

🔨 Spotlight on Solomon – Mastercraftsman and Mentor in Mt Darwin, Zimbabwe

As part of our Mobile Training Model, Young Africa Zimbabwe partnered with Solomon, a local carpenter and entrepreneur, to deliver hands-on training in Carpentry to youth in Mt Darwin. Thanks to Serve & Irish Aid
📍Angola: 51 youth (47 women) graduated from a Hospitality course at Dom Bosco Tech — part of our #Skills2Live programme.

In a country with 56% youth unemployment (Statista 2024), this isn’t just a certificate — it’s a lifeline.
