To add to my late 90’s Famous Covers and other 8-9” dolls, around 15 years ago I picked up these Venture Bros dolls. Or at least the first few. I’m sure Hank is in the house somewhere but he’s not with the others.

I think my absolute biggest flaw as a nerd is this.

- I can tell you the names of all four Ninja turtles.

- I can tell you the weapons of same.

- I can tell you the defining personality traits of same.

I will NEVER successfully, intentionally, connect any two of these at the same time.

I’m obviously a big one for tech nostalgia, but also, we all had to do things until they made a box that did them for us and then we stopped doing those things and then we forgot how to do those things and if the box ever goes away we’ll just start doing them again or live without or die.

OCTOPILE: Green Goblin!

We officially begin October’s Pile Of Loot with this Green Goblin I got cheap because he’s got comic-style scales as opposed to my animated-style smooth one. Otherwise they’re the same.

The one in the back facing forward is the Marvel Legends Retro Card comic style Goblin, the one in the front facing backward is the Animated VHS 2-pack Goblin.

Was thinking of them because Costco is selling a replica Pac-Man one now that’s loaded with The Usual Namco Assortment.

There’s a retro arcade in St. Paul that has a couple of 2p barcades with a Capcom assortment.

You mean like the old tables with the monitor built in? That’s what I’d go for if my house was like twice its current size. Or one of those setups where the joystick and monitor attach to the wall.

I’ve built so many emulator setups over the years. Most more aspirational than practical.

Still have an Nvidia Shield Pro with an external hard drive that plays Dreamcast and Gamecube stuff but I got it fully built out and set up for me and my friends in early 2020 so it got used like three times.

Yeah, I’ve got Retroarch set up on my iPad and have an 8bitdo controller just for it and I don’t take advantage of that NEARLY enough.

In other largely irrelevant in the scheme of things news, I beat (and platinumed) Karate Survivor over the weekend and as much as I like Vampire Survivor, there’s nothing quite like a game that agrees with you on when you’re done with it.

No more to do right around when I’m a little bored? Perfect.

TIL that “Feather Selection” in the Affinity Selection menu and the “Feather” option in Refine Selection do two different things, and that the latter does what I’ve been hoping the former does for like a goddamned year and a half.

Two things about RNG Vault 420/737, from 9/15/24, the gotchapic for the retro Kingpin:

1) I got to do one of those Spidey poses that lives in my head, wrapped around one limb of a Big Boy.

2) This was the most elaborate background reconstruction I’d done to date.
