Today in Science, we carried out a simple comparative test to identify whether a material was absorbent or non-absorbent. We made our initial predictions and recorded the results, including how long it took for each material to absorb water.

This week in Year 1, we used our rights charter to focus on Article 15: the right to meet with others and join groups. We discussed the importance of this right and spent time joining groups with our peers.

Today, Year 1 became real life environmental heroes today! This was a lovely end point inspired by our English text ‘Stella and the Seagull’ by Georgina Stevens. They organised their own ‘litter picking party’ to clean up their local area. ♻️🗑️

The year one’s have been loving our DT topic of Dips and Dippers. We have taste tested dips and dippers, and are looking forward to going to the supermarket this week to get ingredients to make our own hummus!

Today at Brunswick Park we came together as global citizens, wearing black, green and gold to show solidarity with Jamaica and the West Indies after Hurricane Melissa.

In year 1 today we did a very special art activity for Black History Month. We have been learning about Dame Shirley Bassey. Today we created a collage using the songs, 'Diamonds are Forever,' and 'Goldfinger,' as inspiration.

1A had an amazing time at the London Transport Museum today. We saw lots of different trains and buses throughout history, and were able to explore them. It was lots of fun! 1B is looking forward to going next week.

In year 1 today, we were practicing writing our capital letters. We had a go at tracing them on the interactive screen, as well as independently writing on whiteboards.

In year 1, we have been learning about our different senses during our science lessons. We tested our touch and hearing yesterday by listening to different instruments, and describing them as loud or quiet. We also touched different items and described them as hard, soft, smooth, or rough.
