Today I’ll be presenting my 10 Minute Rule Bill on Fireworks in the House of Commons.

This isn’t about banning them, it’s about setting reasonable noise limits and giving local councils the powers to enforce against repeated antisocial misuse of fireworks

Labour promised to fix 1 million extra potholes a year – and we’re delivering.
Double the funding the Tories offered, safer roads for cars, buses & bikes.
Plus:
✅ Rail fare freeze
✅ Prescription freeze
✅ £150 off energy bills
We’re on the side of working people.

Happy Lancashire Day to everyone in Bolton South and Walkden. Today commemorates the day that Lancashire first sent representation to the Model Parliament, and shows how important Lancashire is to our shared culture and heritage across Bolton and Salford

The Chancellor has just delivered the budget in Parliament. This is what it means for everyone here in Bolton South and Walkden

Honoured to have joined such a large, cross party group in signing this letter, calling for targeted screening for Prostate Cancer. 12,000 men die from this each year, and if screening can save lives, it needs to happen
Today @calvinbailey.bsky.social @helenmorganlibdem.bsky.social and Rishi Sunak MP handed in a letter to Wes Streeting, signed by 125 MPs, calling for targeted prostate cancer screening for men at highest risk.

Removing the two child limit for benefits could take 350k children out of poverty, support working families who are struggling to make ends meet & deliver on our promise to give every child the best start in life

I've written to the Chancellor explaining why this needs to happen

Today is #InternationalMensDay. I worked with Samaritans before going into politics, and I know how crucial it can be to have someone you feel comfortable speaking to in hard times, especially for men who struggle to open up to friends and family

Great news for Bolton! Bolton Council has confirmed an Article 4 direction on HMOs. Landlords now need planning permission before converting properties. Labour is delivering for our communities, fixing the Tories’ mess and ensuring decent, secure homes for all.

Nationwide has pledged to keep all branches open until 2030!
With other banks closing, this commitment matters. In-person banking is vital for those who need access to cash & local businesses.
Ownership matters too - this has happened because they are owned by members

Today is World Diabetes Day. I’m proud to support @DiabetesUK’s call to #StrikeOutStigma. No one should face negative attitudes because of diabetes – yet 8 in 10 people say they have, and it’s affecting the care they receive. This must change.

Those who served gave everything for our country. Labour’s Veterans Strategy makes sure we stand by them.
🏠 £27m for a nationwide support service
📈 Dedicated help to end veteran homelessness
🏥 World-class NHS care for veterans
Because our heroes deserve nothing less.

Everyone deserves to feel safe at work - abuse should never be part of the job ❌

This is a really important campaign by Usdaw Union and that is why Labour have made it an offence to assault a shop worker as part of the Crime and Policing Bill

Share to show your support for shopworkers

War memorials tell the story of sacrifice & service.

Many need urgent repair; so I welcome the £2m funding announced by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport to protect them for future generations.

We will never forget

Great turnout at Bolton's Armistice Day memorial this morning, with the Town Hall and Market Place beautifully decorated. Over 2,500 in Bolton South and Walkden have served in our armed forces. I want to thank them all for their sacrifices to keep us safe.
November 11, 2025 at 2:55 PM
Today, on Armistice Day, we pause for two minutes’ silence to remember all who fought and gave their lives for our country and freedoms. I especially honour those from Bolton South & Walkden, and across the UK, who serve or have served in our Armed Forces. Your courage and sacrifice will live on.

Yesterday I laid wreaths in Kearsley and Little Hulton, with Cllr Aalaina Khan laying a wreath on my behalf in Bolton.

It’s important to me that I attend a different service in my constituency each year to remember all those who served, fought and died for this country

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Congratulations to @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social on an inspiring victory.

His campaign spoke to what matters most - tackling the cost of living crisis, standing up for working people & challenging inequality.

A reminder that politics works best when rooted in fairness & hope.

🎮 Nearly 200,000 people signed a petition on video games & consumer law. I joined @BenGoldsborough in Monday’s Westminster Hall debate to stand up for fairness.

If you buy a game, you should be able to play it. It’s time to update the Consumer Rights Act.

I spoke in Parliament to support the Public Office (Accountability) bill.
It’s about truth, fairness, accountability & making sure families like those affected by scandals like Primodos, are never forced to fight alone again.
