Didn't work on A:I but have worked on projects /w similar workflows

Oversimplification, but they mostly use realtime lights, reflection probes and light textures. As the probe's area is limited, the cost was manageable. Using actual light sources is key. Used a custom engine with all this in mind.

Game dev without using the profiler or understanding basic optimization is seemingly rampant. Please- for the love of god- take this seriously. Don't leave it until the end 🙏

Finding clever ways to optimize is actually a ton of fun if made part of the process.
