To quote Ricky from the excellent Council Estate Media: ‘Splashing paint on a plane is terrorism and killing 20,000-plus children is self-defence. Welcome to upside-down world.’

I also discuss the bizarre and disturbing association between the Starmer government and former special advisers to Boris Johnson and Liz Truss.
I vaguely remember being told something about "Change". But this continuity is beyond our worst nightmares.
Not just Tory policies, but actual Tories.
*Copy one of Boris Johnson's stupidest and most self-destructive policies.
*Ignore the massive wave of public fury it ignited.
*Smear and attack anyone warning that it might not be a great idea.
In this week's column I ask what the hell Keir Starmer is playing at.

Labour has denounced me as ‘deeply misleading’ on its planning reform. I wish that were true | George Monbiot
Even it now admits that brick by brick, these proposals will wreck habitats. This could be Starmer’s most damaging mistake yet, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

Thanks to Derek Langley and Will Colebourne for the photos, and to Mark from Faces Of Rebellion for the painting.
We are scared.

We are grieving.

But we won't give up.

We may represent different causes, but we will all continue to fight for justice, an end to genocide and colonialism, and a habitable world for all life.

We also heard from family-members of those imprisoned in the UK for peacefully standing up against the murderous fossil fuel lobby.

And from young people risking arrest to protest fossil capitalism and UK complicity in the Gaza genocide.
We marked the cataclysm of the Israel's genocidal war on Gaza with a minute's silence, and heard from speakers on how the same murderous logic drives the destruction of our biosphere.

At the same time, populists like Farage harness ecofascist narratives to serve their racist agendas.
We marched through Cambridge, led by the Red Rebels, before hearing speeches from @greenpeaceuk.bsky.social, @orca4el.bsky.social, Cambridge Stop the War, @defendourjuries.bsky.social, @youthdemand.bsky.social and Cambridge Community Kitchen.

We had songs from Climate Choir and Lefty Men Sing!
On Saturday, we held a mock funeral for the 1.5C climate target agreed 10 years ago in Paris.

In a decade, we have burst through 1.5 and could hit 2C of warming by the mid-2030s.

Governments have failed to keep the world safe from deadly temperature rises. They are killing us.
