Hawkeye’s time in the circus is fleshed out a little more in other issues of Solo Avengers, but the basics are told in his first appearance in Tales of Suspense #57 from 1964. The following years would expand upon his story and journey to being an Avenger. Clint Barton was born in Waverly, Iowa. Orphaned at a young age Clint and his brother Barney ran away from the orphanage to join the Carson Carnival of Traveling Wonders. It was here that Clint was trained by The Swordsman and Trick Shot. After a falling out with them and his brother, Clint adapted his archery skills to become a star carnival attraction, a master archer called "Hawkeye", otherwise known as "The World's Greatest Marksman". His run-ins with Iron Man and especially Black Widow lead him to the path of becoming a superhero.

Did you know that the 2005 David Cronenberg film 'A History of Violence' was based on a comic? The film, which stars Viggo Mortensen, Maria Bello, William Hurt & Ed Harris was adapted from the graphic novel written by John Wagner and illustrated by Vince Locke, it was originally published in 1997 by Paradox Press and later by Vertigo. This is one of only two film properties of John Wagner's work, the other being Judge Dredd.

This year’s living Hall of Fame inductees included John Byrne while the posthumous inductees are award-winning writer Peter David and Barbara Shermund. Book of the Year went to 'Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees' by Patrick Horvath published by IDW. Best Digital Book went to Go Comics' 'Sarah’s Scribbles' by Sarah Anderson. 'Witch Hat Atelier' by Kamome Shirahama won best Manga and the Best Adaptation from Comic Book/Graphic Novel went to James Gun's Superman.

October 10th, 1991 is the cover date for X-Men Volume 2 #1, this issue is often cited as the best-selling comic of all time with an estimated 8.1 Million copies sold worldwide. Written by Chris Claremont and Jim Lee who also did the interiors and cover alongside Scott Williams this issue features a number of firsts; the first appearance of the two Blue and Gold X-Men teams lead by Cyclops and Storm, the first appearance of Professor X's hoverchair and new looks and costumers for many characters.

Did you know the 1997 hit Will Smith film 'Men in Black', its sequels, spinoffs and cartoons were all based on a comic? The Men in Black the comic was originally published in 1990 by Aircel Comics, which was later purchased by Malibu Comics, and then finally ended up being owned by Marvel Comics. The 3 issue series was written by Lowell Cunningham and featuring art by Sandy Carruthers. After the release of the hit film Marvel published a number of one-shots in 1997 including a reboot of the original comic, a sequel to the film, a movie adaptation and a reprint of the first issue of the original Aircel miniseries.

October 8th 2003 was the release date of Robert Kirkman's first issue of 'The Walking Dead', with cover and interior art by Tony More, the first issue tells the story of Rick Grimes, a police deputy who awakens from a coma to find civilization as ended after a mysterious virus has infected the entire world while he slept. The first issue had a small initial print run of about 7,000 copies. It sold out quickly and became difficult to find almost immediately. Because of its rarity and the later massive success of the series, original first printings are now considered highly valuable collector’s items. According to CGC, The Walking Dead #1 has had “more than 90 reprints and special editions” in total there have been 200,000 to 400,000 copies sold worldwide, the comic also spawned a massively successful TV series on AMC.

October 7th 2014 was the premier date of the CW series The Flash, the first spinoff from 'Arrow', The Flash tells the story of Barry Allen, mild mannered CSI from Central City who has his life changed when he is struck by lightening, becoming the fastest man alive. The series starred Grant Gustin as Barry Allen, Candice Patton as Iris West and Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow. The series showcased may heroes and villains from The Flash lore over 9 seasons and 184 episodes. It helped kick off what is lovingly called 'The Arrowverse' which included other series like Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, Batwoman, Black Lightning, Constantine, Superman & Lois, Stargirl and the animated web series Vixen, Freedom Fighters: The Ray & Supergirl: Girl of Steel
