Last time I was at Costco, they had this giant bag of Korean fried puff snacks that's Korean bbq chicken flavored, even shaped like little drumsticks, and yep. They're basically BBQ chicken without the chicken, and that turns out to make for a very tasty snack.

#ai / #llm propaganda is so insidiously effective even for laypeople.

I’ve had multiple conversations with family members who: don’t speak English, don’t own computers (only mobile phones), and barely spend time online.

I told them that I am no longer working with most tech company clients […]

I hope 2026 is the year in which we treat "just use Windows" and "just use macOS" with the same suspicion as we treat "just use Linux."

I hope that becomes and remains true even when "just use {Windows, macOS}" are phrased as "Linux doesn't work because {XYZ}," without consideration for the […]

Last night, I saw a terrible take that I would swear is already a contender for worst tech-adjacent take of the year. This is gonna be a ridiculous fucking year, isn't it?

I could offer a similar "theorem" for replies to this toot:

• Bad-faith replies from AI boosters trying to pull a fast one.
• "Moderates" who believe at least some of the outlandish claims made by AI boosters, and who like to pretend that […]

First absolutely cursed tech thing I've run into in 2026: a login page with "shibboleth" in the URL.

Work on the rereading Project and on Arcalibre has been a little slow over the holidays, but I'm going to be getting back to things as soon as I can.

After all, I've got books to read, and I don't want AI fucking with them.

First silly Commander deck idea of the year: use [[Tom Bombadil]] to fetch out all of my FIN/FIC summons, with a bit of airbending to reset Sagas as needed.

Watching @crazy4pi314 play ZA Legends, and the side quest where a Pokemon decides that someone's taxi needs to die is very funny. I don't quite even know why, just the concept of a wild magic animal trying to fight a car is inherently silly.

New Years Resolution: spend less time dunking on AI.

My means of going about doing so will be to attack and dethrone god so fucking hard that every slopbro everywhere will be forced to stop giving me shit to dunk on, because there is no way I will reduce the degree to clown on their bullshit as […]

I'm tired of looking back year after year and then dreading how much worse it's going to get.

This New Year's Eve, I am drinking and fucking celebrating, not because anything I'd actually better, but because I'm still fucking here. A lot of good people aren't, and maybe I'm being […]

If you play D&D or read a book or watch a movie or play a video game, you're giving consent to have your feelings manipulated. That consent is revocable — you can stop playing, put the book down, turn the movie off. There's real and serious issues with how that consent is negotiated and […]

Ugh, what an annoying article.

• "Pioneer," starting off with colonialist analogies, no notes.
• Pretending over and over again that there's any path from LLMs to something that can meaningfully said to be "alive," when that is very much so not the case.
• Sucking the oxygen out of the room by […]

Given that in the wake of gpg.fail, discourse has shifted to the very necessary "how do we permanently get rid of PGP/GPG," I will say that what I like about GPG is that it has four very easy to understand verbs:

• Sign
• Verify
• Encrypt
• Decrypt

Key management is a mess. Accidentally […]
