finally! A wip that I can share for the first time in months!!

Silver Snow AU ❄️ Byleth finds out who she's going to marry (you'll never guess who it is)

“We propose that you marry the former prince of Faerghus. Dimitri.”

Her expression didn’t change, but Byleth remembered. Finding him in the fields of death, drenched in blood. Visiting his room in the infirmary again and again, clinging to the hope that she’d saved one life that day. Witnessing his agony, when he’d realized the bitter truth of her salvation.

Most of all though, she remembered the day they’d convinced him to give up his crown. She and her advisors, telling him that his claim would cause discord, would bring back the war. That his people would only suffer more under his reign. That it was better for everyone if he abdicated, and lived out the rest of his days in seclusion.

Byleth folded her hands neatly in her lap. “We decided he would be a threat to stability if allowed to become king,” she stated after a moment, her voice cool. “Nothing’s changed.”

I think the fact that they had to follow up on Robin and Corrin, characters who were not quiet about who they are, made a lot of people expect something very different than what the developers intended for Byleth, thus writing them off as unfulfilled expectations

Their "silence" is actually another very intriguing part of their character too, but because they're not always openly proclaiming their every thought and feeling in words most people will just write them off as bland and uninteresting, which is very unfortunate

their complicated relationship with their father, their distaste for their moniker, the way they don't truly understand friendship due to how they were raised, the ways the plots of each route affect their feelings and decision making. There's a surprising amount to them most people don't gaf about

been listening to a lot of the 3Houses/Hopes ost so Fódlan's on the brain again,
I think Byleth having very little spoken dialogue really just made people write them off as a character completely, cause if you care to do even just a little digging you can see a very fleshed out character in there
