One year ago today I had the whim to start this little Bluesky account to keep alive memories of #LeedsOtherPaper - thanks to everyone who has since followed, shared, replied, re-posted and added your own stories. Please keep 'em coming. And tell your mates that the northern star still shines...
Half a century has passed since the birth of Leeds Other Paper, an alternative local newspaper that uncovered many of the city’s less told stories. LOP lasted from 1974 to 1994, during which time it reported on social, political, economic and cultural life in Leeds from an alternative perspective.

Fascinating stuff here from @peoplespapers.bsky.social about the alternative local press around Manchester - so many similarities with what was happening in Leeds and elsewhere during the 1970s and 1980s. Well worth a watch for anyone wanting to know more (despite some suitably wobbly camerawork).

BBC bias? The Prescott memo falls well short of the standards of impartiality it demands
The Prescott memo contained no research questions or objectives, method, sample, time frame or, crucially, analytical framework for examining output.
