Oh sorry, I should've given a bit more detail.

I figured out that I could filter search results by looking for `embed: {$type: "app.bsky.embed.video#view"}` but I was hoping to be able to do that in my query request.

If I'm understanding how feeds work correctly, I think I could get it working by hosting some server-side code that dynamically creates feed skeletons based on the search term. It just means it's not fully client-side anymore, (among other issues with that approach).

The thing I'm trying to do might not actually be possible. My idea was a fully client-side UI that would just show videos and support searching. I kinda got it working using current "Videos" feed.

Thanks! It looks like the searchPosts endpoint only looks at the post.text so I don't think I can use it there. I'll dig around and see if there's another way.

Is there a way to get the app.bsky.feed.searchPosts API endpoint to just return videos?

It seems like the docs are not correct (especially the bit about lucene queries): docs.bsky.app/docs/api/app...

Is there some other API I could use?

I mean… my first thought when learning how ATProtocol works with a PDS was “oh it’s like DNS for websites”

Are you trolling? Clearly websites hosted in the EU are allowed to be viewed in other areas. Google is allowed to index EU sites on US based servers. The AT protocol uses the same paradigm.

If Canada had tried to annex Idaho in 2014 and some Nazi/far-right militias defended it, would you conclude from that the US was run by Nazis?

I’m still learning myself but my impression is that the bluesky protocol might open up more possibilities for platforms that aren’t actually hosted by Bluesky. It’s way more like rss than existing social media. Check out atproto.com
