Great Smoky Mountains
"The mountain, known as Clingmans Dome since 1859, has been a sacred place for the Cherokee people, serving as a place of prayer, reflection, and gathering of mulberries for medicine. In fact, the name Kuwohi translates to 'the mulberry place' in Tsalagi, the Cherokee language"
The Tallest of the Great Smoky Mountains Is—Officially—Kuwohi

On September 5, 1856, the Arabia hit a snag in the Missouri River, and quickly sank. When the wreckage was dug out of a Kansas cornfield in the late 1980s, the snag (tree trunk) was still stuck in the hull. It is on display in the Arabia Steamboat Museum today. www.1856.com
A painting of the Steamboat Arabia sinking on the Missouri River. Photo of the submerged tree trunk that punctured the hull of the Steamboat Arabia, on display at the Steamboat Arabia Museum.

General George McClellan's forage cap. This well-tailored kepi, also known as a chasseur cap, was a taller type than most Civil War kepis and popular with soldiers of all ranks, who sometimes placed a wet sponge or handkerchief under the crown to keep cool. [National Museum of American History]
