You will still be able to nominate datasets after 20 October, but they will not make the first edition of the commentary.

They will also Launch a special collection in Earth and Space Sciences in late 2025/2026 where papers or commentaries on the individual datasets (or groupings of datasets) will be published.

The time limit is because AGU's working towards having a ‘commentary’ on Impactful datasets in the Earth and Environmental sciences published in AGU Advances by the AGU 2025 meeting in December.
