Most disabled teenage girls want to be more active, despite all the barriers stacked up against them in sport – fewer opportunities, negative attitudes, stereotyping and prejudice.

The least sport can do is to welcome them in.
Yesterday, we hosted a parliamentary roundtable with our friends the Youth Sport Trust, bringing together MPs and experts from sport and education.

We discussed what equal access to PE and school sport for girls means in 2025, and what more we can be doing to achieve it.

British para-cyclist Morgan Newberry made the podium not once, but twice, at last weekend's Para-cycling World Championships in Belgium🎉

Morgan won silver in the Time Trial and bronze in the Road Race, while wearing a prosthetic arm she designed with other female para-cyclists.

Well done Morgan🥳
South Asian girls make up 11.6% of youth cricket participants, but only 3.3% of elite female cricketers are South Asian🚨

Beyond cricket, South Asian girls are one of the least active groups of children in England.

It’s up to decision makers in sport to change the game.
Ill-fitting kit continues to be an issue for women and girls, right from grassroots through to elite sport...

1/3 girls don’t feel comfortable in their PE kit, and only 14% say sports bras are on their uniform list.

Women already face enough barriers in sport... kit shouldn’t be one of them.

Love this quote from Erin Wilson on the legacy of the Lionesses and the growing visibility of women’s sport:

“We need to continue to make sure young women can take up space in sport – whether that be as a player, a reporter or simply a fan, because the Lionesses have proved women really can.”
According to our research, 45% of teenage girls feel they don’t have the right body shape for sport, and 61% feel judged while exercising.

The constant scrutiny around women and girls’ bodies needs to stop. All women and girls belong in sport, no matter what.
All too often, we hear about the terrible experiences women had in sport when they were younger...

Forced to play in revealing and restrictive PE kit, being told some sports aren’t for girls, trying to navigate an environment where they never felt they belonged.

But we're here to change that💜
We’ve launched a national survey to understand sports coaches’ experiences - every response helps us shape the future of coaching for the better.
