Like it makes me sad! Do you know how badly people decimated tattooing cultures only to steal tattoos (and other forms of body modification, let’s be real) later on in an act of like ‘rebellion’? Like it’s so sick for something to be taken like that and then used

I mean actually research it also. Like where do y’all think the word “tattoo” comes from? Why are tattoos so stigmatized to begin with? How did colonizing people treat tattooed bodies and practices? Why do you feel entitled to these markings?

For Indigenous peoples day I want everyone who engages with fantasy and art to research the tattoos you are all slapping onto your characters. So many markings from closed practices get stolen and misused. Hasn’t enough been taken from people already? Stop putting sacred markings on your OCs.
