The whole selling point of the #SydneyDerby is the atmosphere and that’s even under threat.
Fans at NRL and Cricket brawl drunkenly in the stands and everyone chuckles and says “oh those larrikins!” But if football fans sing a song they’re a Menace II Society.
It’s certainly good business. If the $1m rumour is correct, and we got the same for Girdwood-Reich last year, that’s double the annual TV income for 2 academy products. It’s excellent but I hope it’s at end of season not right now, as Sydney are done for the year if it’s now.
