4. We have three great CBs, but Romero is the key component -- feels weird to say that after VDV's incredible goal but Romero = ball progression.
5. Bring Kudus & Solanke into this & we'll be absolutely fine until January when a more progressive central midfielder is critical.
6. Crowd back on side.
1. It's been said a million times but the 3-4-2-1 in-possession shape suits us, crucially it gets Odobert & Simons close to one another.
2. Sarr or Gray alongside Palhinha or Bentancur gives nice balance. Someone to make runs beyond the ball.
3. We have three great FBs, just need to keep Udogie fit.
Last night felt great. I maintain that we were playing against a poor opponent who gave us a lot of time and space - demonstrated by Bentancur & Palhinha both looking like world beaters - but some extremely promising signs and good individual performances (including by those two) - some thoughts...
On the pod we were talking about how we get the crowd back onside. Job done, lads.
The time we’re getting on the ball makes it hard for me to pass too much judgement on this but there are some nice ideas and encouraging signs and it’s wonderful to see the confidence flow.
An unexpected and interesting in possession tweak is Odobert being the one holding width with Udogie inside quite a bit (though not every time). We know how much Udogie enjoys playing inside.
It was often 3-4-3 with dual tens to my eyes
Different shape but ideas not much changed imo
To me, today was pretty similar to Villa. That game wasn’t a reason to completely panic in the same way that this isn’t one to get overly excited about. We’re doing some good things and have set pieces in our locker but there’s lots we could be doing better. I think it’s been a solid enough start.
My god I love Vicario so much, so underrated
Looks like we are 3-4-3 with Johnson RWB (Porro RCB) and Kudus / Simons as 10s.
Bless you man. I had three hours sleep next to a very poorly baby so I am in an even worse situation today. Pray for me.
You’re absolutely right man, will think about how we do this
He's a good manager, let's see how it plays out
...structure, it's understanding what's needed of them. Richarlison is feeding off scraps: no, he's shit. Simons is barely getting touches: not the required level. Odobert isn't Kudus: not good enough.

Some of the profiles won't be a fit, and that's fine but man it's tedious and draining to read.
Totally agree with this from Dan. The part of the discourse I struggle with is the constant blanket statements about players just being not up to it. Bergvall was probably our worst player last night & we know he's good/potentially great. So there's more to it. It's confidence, it's the...
I think we need to give our coaching some time, and while I'm definitely agreeing that we're quite dull, but I'm kind of irritated at people going "we're now regressing!", of course we got worse without our best player, which is also one of our 2 good passers from deep. Hoping Cuti is back soon!
Now that’s a different convo and one I agree on
People don't like the long throws. I don't get it. Why don't you like the long throws? We're HUGE and we've got a set piece coach, we've got a real nice advantage from them I think.
Also I just said on the reaction pod: weirdly the tough run of games coming up will probably suit us better
What I'm saying is: Fabio and Johan, sign a pivot passer in January (tbh we should sign two) or else I'll seriously doubt your commitment to sparkle motion.
Ultimately we can all pick on individuals to blame (Bentancur is my blame guy, who's yours) but if you pick a team with one passer (Porro) you can expect a lack of passing.
Feel like I'm going to be facing an uphill battle defending Frankball for the next x months & I'm not defending it because I think it's great atm, I'm defending it because I'm willing to let it play out. That's not to say I don't have concerns. That pivot makes my eyes bleed, stop it Thomas.
