I really enjoyed meeting residents and community stakeholders in Penhill today, alongside representatives from the Ministry of Housing, Communities, and Swindon Borough Council to discuss the £20 investment.
Wishing everyone who celebrates Diwali in Swindon North and around the world a fantastic time.
A joy to be able to help residents in way's I never expected when I was elected. Glad I could help someone who'd hit a bit of a brick wall mentally as they couldn't find there results actually get a resolution and are now moving on to incredible things at university.
Great to visit Oxford Brookes campus in Swindon to meet their nursing teams and visit their Clinical Skills lab where students train on VR patients as well as dummies. The nursing team at Oxford Brookes are ranked in the top 10 in the country for their teaching in Children's Nursing and Midwifery.
Hi all, please welcome Nelson to the Swindon North family! I reckon he could fly a drone, what do you think?
Citizens Advice Swindon will be busy over the next few weeks and will be out and about across Swindon North at the following venues and times.
Was fantastic to catch up with the team at Andruil to hear about some of the latest defence technology they are working on, I was particularly interested in their advanced drone technology and the support they can provide for NATO.
Following on from my personal experience witnessing an assault with a knife I wanted to pay special attention to the cases of Owen Dunn and Lee Turner, who were both victims of knife crime.
Yesterday I took part in a Westminster Hall Debate about the increase in knife crime across the country. I started the debate with a self-reflection on an experience I witnessed when working as a bouncer that sticks with me to this day.
This week I supported the heart wrenching baby loss awareness week, every day in the UK around 13 babies die shortly before, during or soon after birth. The awareness week aims to improve the quality of bereavement services for those experiencing baby loss.
Great to meet Dr Tobias Stone founder and editor-in-chief of Resilience Media - one of the leading voices in Defence and Drone Technology. We had an interesting discussion about new developments in the sector and how we can collaborate in the future for the benefit of Swindon.
Today, I’m delivering on my promise to improve the UK’s mental health legislation by voting for the Government’s Mental Health Bill which updates the Mental Health Act 1983, bringing it into the 21st century to ensure people in mental health crisis are treated with dignity, compassion, and respect.
It's incredibly important that we support Ukraine in their mission to defend against Russian aggression. Since being elected, I’ve focused on bringing high-skilled, well-paid jobs to Swindon through drone manufacturing.
This year I have been working alongside @bluecrosspa.bsky.social on a number of very important issues. I am delighted that they asked my dog Bernie to feature in their newsletter alongside some very important info to remember ahead of bonfire night.
I'm pleased that the FCDO have announced Mohammed Ali will leave Israeli custody for Istanbul tomorrow and thank his family and all those who have contacted me for their determination to see Mohammed safely returned home to the UK.
Thank you to everyone who reached out regarding Mr Mohammed Ali's safety. I am working at pace to secure his safe return.
I've been contacted by a number of residents regarding their GP surgery no longer accepting bookings via phone. The new GP contract means GP surgeries must provide online bookings systems throughout the day. This is to end the 8am rush for appointments.
Really pleased I was able to assist a local company, their workers and supply chain. If you have any concerns or issues my team and I will always do what we can to help and you can contact us on [email protected]
Fantastic to meet with FN UK, a company that recently secured a 10-year contract with the MOD, underscoring their commitment to excellence and delivering for the UK. Swindon would be a perfect place for them to expand their operations and I'll push for them to set up in our town.
I recently joined, the Wiltshire PCC and Heidi Alexander at a conference organised by the Owen's World charity to back a joined up approach between charities, community groups, public bodies and the police to tackle Knife Crime in Swindon.
On the 17th September DEFRA Secretary Emma Reynolds invited me to visit the Coleshill estate alongside the National Trust. There I saw the excellent work the National Trust are doing to support farmers, from diversifying farmer income streams to building flood defences.
Good to catch up with the team at planetfall before the conference season kicked off. They're a high altitude drone firm, building bespoke drones that can fly to high altitudes and I'm really keen to bring them to Swindon as part of our growing drone cluster.
I was really pleased to hear the Education Secretary announce her plan to provide libraries to all the 1,700 primary schools without access to one. The love of reading is a gateway to a love of learning and it's great to see us reversing years of decline.
