Critical thinking is now an act of rebellion.
Each political tribe interprets reality to preserve identity, belonging, and meaning. What looks like absurd blindness is really a defense against the terror of insignificance. Beliefs aren’t neutral; they safeguard worlds. We don’t debate policies; we protect meaning itself.
The terror is in how many people are willing to burn down the world to prove their illusions right.
I’m beginning to think it’s dogmatic certainty and nihilistic despair that’s strangling America: one refuses compromise while the other refuses hope. Together, they make polarization feel permanent.
In the age of AI, specialists will be outpaced, but those who can adapt, self-teach, and reskill will thrive. Dabble widely and stay curious.

Working in higher education, students often ask me what they should study. My answer is to study EVERYTHING. Be a generalist. Master how to learn, and fall in love with the process.
Long past our death, our light will continue on through the cosmos.
Having pride for your nation is healthy so long as you remain aware that your nation is a fiction, an abstract concept that only exists in an intersubjective space--it's imaginary, so your pride for it should be modest at best.
Everyone: Never share personal info with AI.

AI folks talking about AI Agents: AI Agents will be able book your flights (with your credit card).

Will there be a point when it’s too late to discuss UBI? Will we know? #UBI #FutureOfWork #EconomicJustice #AI #ArtificialInteligence
Ironic how we're cutting education funding while saying we need to "beat China in AI." You know what actually helps win tech races? Investing in STEM education and creating more scientists and engineers. Can't lead in artificial intelligence with natural unintelligence. #EducationMatters
It's truly unfortunate to see the US & #China locked in an AI competition instead of a collaboration. Imagine the incredible progress we could achieve for humanity & the natural world if we worked together on this transformative technology. #AI #Collaboration #Innovation #Future
As #AI grows more ubiquitous, embedding itself into all our devices, features like memory—and soon, perhaps, lifetime memory—will bring some of the greatest boons for personalized education; and some of the greatest dangers. #MachineLearning #Education #HigherEd #HigherEducation #College #University
If #Trump’s years in the political spotlight have taught us anything, it’s that he is laughably ignorant of basic government and economic principles, and his capricious, thoughtless, erratic decisions make it impossible to take any of his mandates as stable and lasting.
Just like pushing the #TikTok ban further and further into a nebulous future, when these 90 days are up, we’ll get another 90 days, and another, and another until we all realize how absurdly stupid and pointless this all was. #Tariff #Tariffs
A 90-day pause on #tariffs? Nice! Gonna finally order from those penguins.

On the bright side, these #tariffs on #China have made #MAGA hats too expensive for #Trump supporters.
Can’t wait to taste those Russian avocados. 😞 #tariffwar #tariff #tariffs
U.S. as a manufacturing powerhouse is great until you realize we lack the infrastructure. China builds a hospital in a week; it takes us 2 yrs to fill a pothole. You can't bring jobs home without the plants, factories, & facilities ready to roll now—not decades from now. #tariff #tariffs
There's no going back to the modern equivalent of the hunter-gatherer lifestyle. #AI #ArtificialIntelligence
It'll make us more "productive," yes. but this simply means it will make us run faster on that imaginary economic hamster wheel, around and around, faster and faster, without truly going anywhere. It's a trap because we're already struggling to live without it; we're caught.
I'm beginning to view the Al Revolution in much the same way that we now view the Agricultural Revolution: The Al Revolution is a trap. It is providing us with technological abilities that, in the long run, will not increase our general happiness and well-being.
Also, this shift, certainly offering some benefits, could devalue the human element in teaching and mentorship, and ultimately transform the terrain of academic employment and the nature of higher learning itself.
This is great in its own way, but it could tempt institutions, including smaller ones, to increase class sizes and reduce reliance on faculty, which will lead to fewer available teaching positions.
