Tuesdays practical work party at Ryton Wood Meadows saw us working on a coppice plot rotation. We cleared the section & brushed up the hazel stools to protect from deer. Cold but bright day. @bcwarwickshire.bsky.social

Today was all about planting fruit trees 🌳 🍎 These were planted along a footpath and made up a variety of species from Apple, Pear, Cherry, Plum, Damson, Gage & Medlar. #fruit #trees

Practical work party at Ryton Wood Meadows today. Clearing sections of blackthorn from the butterfly banks, searching for eggs on the cut branches as well as some woodland work. #volunteer @bcwarwickshire.bsky.social

Lunchtime walk around Ryton Pools Country Park. coffee at the cafe, saw the Black sheep being herded & a bit of fungi spotting.

A tiny snail 🐌 aiming high ☺️ Noticed this little gastropod sliding up the patio window on wet morning this weekend. Going places albeit slowly 😬
Looking at a small snail in the middle of the patio door heading upwards. Behind it you can see grass and fields heading down to the coast. Grey blue skies leaking rain drops.

Looking across and down the slope of the grassland to the hedge on the right which is just before the train track. Several volunteers can be seen taking and cutting the grasslands. A steeper selection of the bank sloping to the left into some scrub. A south facing bank.

The Fieldfare & the apple tree territory.
The windfall apples are already the centre of this bird's world, on it's winter visit here to Dorset.
Notice how at the end of the clip, a Blackbird has the temerity to fly near the tree.
The watchful 'fare is immediately on his case.

I always love visiting Little Haven nature reserve, something special about it and the way the trees frame the path 🙂
View down the old railway line. Wide path littered with autumnal leaves and fallen apples. Tall trees leaning in over the path some still with green leaves. Blues skies with white clouds filtering through the tree branches.

Working on the path around the pond which is on the right of the photo. A small wood and metal bench is to the left. Raking the last of the grass & reeds from the main pond which is mainly dry still. The pond is I mother middle and the path runs around the edges. A view down the cutting with hawthorn trees framing the edges of the photo. Leaves and apple on the ground.
