That's Hari in the background just hours after his arrival at our Elephant Hospital. The poor boy is scared and injured.

His caregiver is getting to know him and winning his trust. And yes, the bell will be removed soon.

These were the chains removed from Hari. Notice the brutal spiked chains that were around his back legs.

Guess who has a new home filled with hope, care and kindness? That's Vayu! The 5-day trip from northeast India was our longest rescue journey ever. We will give the big bull ele a few days of peace and quiet while he builds his confidence. #elephant #elephantrescue

Upon Vayu’s arrival to the Elephant Hospital early this morning, the big beautiful bull was wary and cautious. All the sights and smells were new to him, but he could hear nearby elephants giving a reassuring welcome.

Dr. Go, who cared for Vayu throughout the journey, offered bananas and words of encouragement to coax him out of the ambulance.

Vayu’s first steps of freedom were tentative as he ventured from the ambulance into the Elephant Hospital, where treats and kindness awaited!

#ELEPHANT #RESCUE We've got him! Vayu has a badly broken left front leg, which has healed poorly and causes him significant pain. We learned about him during our recent medical outreach clinics in Assam, where the injured bull was in musth and chained to a tree. give.wildlifesos.org/page/136720/...
