1) Menstrual stem cell differentiation to neuronal types and cardiomyocytes, and hacking a cheap 3D printer into a bioprinter & 2) help, I work on every odd idea/theory I think about! 🧪
Bluesky academics, let's get to know each other! Quote this & tell me: 1) a project you are working on & 2) an odd idea/theory you aren’t working on but keep thinking about

The Routledge Companion to Performance and Science, with my chapter, Blood Magic in Biotech -- a case study (Ch 23).
In this chapter, I discuss my work with 16S rRNA sequencing of my vaginal microbiome over the duration of an entire menstrual cycle.

Thanks for your reply! Are the researchers promoting lab grown meat?
I’m a bioartist and tissue engineer, and wrote part of my thesis on the fallacy of lab grown meat. Would love to know more on your take.
Saving this for later.
Choose Science. Choose Europe.

A new Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Postdoctoral Fellowships 2025 call is now open.

Hahahaha, I really hope you’re wrong about that. 😂🫣
I certainly love to create pink creatures. ☺️
This is my DIY bioprinter in my kitchen, finishing up my first successful bioprint (with this machine) of a clitoris form in a homemade gelatin alginate bioink. I’m pretty sure it’s a world’s first. Tell me this isn’t the sexiest DIYbio you’ve ever seen! 🧪

In the spirit of Mother’s Day, here’s a clip of Björk two-piecing a reporter who was stalking her and her baby.
Hmmm, I bet it would make an amazing manual component to add on with the controlled extruder!
I wonder if anyone’s tried yet. It seems like it might be more compact to work with?
I’d like to see that! We need more creative absurdity that works.
Pneumatics would give this so many more possibilities!
Thank you! 😅 It has been painstaking.
First, very rough print test with the bioprinter I built (hacked from a 3D printer) and which lives on my kitchen counter. Dinner, anyone? 🧪 Next up are all the refinements with extrusion rate, nozzle gauge, etc., etc., etc. Just using a simple gelatin-alginate bioink I cooked up on my stove.
Should be called Sonichedgehogite, imo! 🦔
