To explore the #OlympicNP is an experience like no other. From high alpine peaks to rainforests and rugged shorelines it is an absolute gem, even when compared to all our other national parks. And oddly, often more accessible to #OregonHC than people in Washington due to a chance of geography.
Finally lived out my little dream of sleeping overnight in the McKenzie Pass Observatory (accessible by bicycle), and was rewarded with a dreamy sunrise. #OregonHC
But with the help of various practitioners attacking the issue from multiple angles, she’s made a good recovery and is back in the mountains where she belongs.
For someone with such incredible strength, who regularly solo mountaineers and eats multi-day backpacking trips for breakfast, it was a major adjustment to deal with weakness and pain for several years. As her father, I felt so helpless to do anything except but lend an ear.
It’s been challenging for my daughter to stay positive as a couple health issues struck simultaneously.
That is one contented kitty.

I was honored to be asked to “guide” a friend up Mount Whitney, a first attempt for both of us. We worked together really well and although it was challenging to the extreme, we prepared well, made excellent plans, and demonstrated solid decision-making on the route.
Spring ushers in a narrow window of lush scenery to Oregon’s desert canyons. For about a month, the wet earth and steady sun feeds a diverse ecosystem, with grass at the foundation and bears and wolves at the top of the food pyramid.#OregonHC #PNW
Our poetry, music and art-themed backpacking trip was a great success. We bonded over the challenges and laughed around the campfire at night. Every person was a gem that I would happily travel with again.#OregonHC
Parenting takes way more patience than you might expect. After 20 years of false starts, I finally got this kid really enjoying the slopes. Now I just need to teach the other one!
I disagree. It actually feels more and more like I live in the 47th Oblast (or State) of Russia, with our dear leader taking orders from above.
