We are concerned about the impact on patients through reduced ability to undertake innovative research and to translate findings into better patient outcomes.
Indirect costs are also skyrocketing and include vital aspects of research like obtaining and maintaining our state-of-the-art facilities, admin support, IT and cyber security, and data storage, to name just a few.
Australian medical research institutes are struggling due to Government grants not covering the full costs of researchers' salaries.
WIMR stands with AAMRI and its concerns in the lead-up to the 2025 federal election. We need a better grant system that funds the full costs of research so we can continue to deliver lifesaving treatment and therapies.
