Why Are Different Sediment Sizes in Rivers So Important? 🪨

From tiny clay particles to chunky cobbles, rivers carry a mix of sediment sizes, and that’s a very good thing!

Diverse sediment = a healthy river!

Pretty but harmful - Himalayan balsam is an invasive species spreading fast along our rivers. WRT is working with volunteers to remove balsam and restore healthy, native river habitats. Spot some? Pull it up or join a local balsam bash!

There seems to be loads of acorns around this year, this is because Oak trees are having something called a mast year.

The idea is to overwhelm seed predators like squirrels and mice by producing more acorns than they can possibly eat, meaning that more are left to grow into future oak trees 🌱
