A 5th grader told me his family won't let him get graphic novels. He is supposed to get "real books." 😡 We plan for him to get as many GNs as he wants, but leave them in the classroom. He comes back the next day for more. #WorkArounds

In our elementary library space it took the form of each student writing or drawing something they like to read on a brick to build our “lego” display. Kids are so excited to search and show their contribution to others!

Books that match our new curriculum are being placed in resource lists to share with students & staff. This promotes our material and makes it very easy to pull these off the shelf for displays. Having a volunteer who is a MLS candidate is such a gift! #Grateful

2nd graders are playing Red Light, Green Light as they create groups of books they can and can not check out. They are working on making responsible book choices and taking only 2 of a kind so there are some for their friends to read.

Building relationships comes before all for me. A new principal asked me to find her a read aloud for her 1st assembly. I volunteered to fill the lobby display case with books. She walked away from our conversation knowing she has a partner in this work. Let's do this.
