Ways to support immigrant communities:
1. Donate to advocacy orgs
2. Attend a KYR training
3. Educate yourself (read!)
4. If there's enforcement in your area, consider offering to pick up groceries, take kids to school, etc.
5. Vote like your life (and those of your neighbors) depends on it!

Spent the weekend in Mount Pleasant—the same Iowa city we visited in 2018 after it was hit by a massive ICE raid.

If researching deportation has taught me anything, it’s this: communities, are strong, creative, and resourceful. They never asked to be heroes. But if you make them, they will.

A haunted house but it’s just congress getting along and giving people their SNAP benefits so it’s totally surprising and borderline unbelievable but not scary.

As a researcher, I pay attention to new words and phrases US media (English and Spanish) now has to use to describe US politics: "ICE round-up," "immigration sweeps," and "narcolancha" are now regularly in circulation. Telling.

These children--like all children caught in the middle of immigration enforcement--will carry these mental scars with them forever.
