Taichi never imagined being handled in the ways that Mankai Company had. Finding them through all of life's struggles was a blessing he never felt he deserved. Swiping away the last bit of dirt from the incident with his friends, he was coming back to life and ready for what it'd offer next. Despite his readiness to get back up and going, he'd never have expected what would come to his doorstep next.

He takes them out, holds them in his hands gently. He turns them around, trying to slot them into place, piece them together into a sequence of events. But they're heavier than he remembers and the weight of them causes him to drop them. As he grapples for them, he realises that's just the thing with old memories. They grow heavier with time, expanding as more memories get added. It makes them all the more fragile and so old memories shatter easily.

AO3: Verida Writing sample: The conversation was led by Sakyo, who said that the real importance of any good story is the ability to hold up the test of time. As they talk about how the manga artist used to do shounen manga but then changed to shoujo in a low point of their career, it quickly became a civil debate on the love triangle. "Yukimura is a good pairing for Tojiro!" "Have you read the manga? Kieru has proper development!" "Idk, YukiToji had potential until the late volumes." "Still think the transformation gimmick has been a cheap gag, though how would a curse be that bad?" At the end, they all agreed that Akimoto's mother needs to be in jail, every character is understandably written, and they all need therapy in the end.

Tsuzuru mutters something in his sleep, but Masumi elects to ignore him, instead just making a mental note to keep a serving of curry aside for him.
