The Driftwood strip all planted and ready to go! A couple of cranes flew south behind the listening dish at 12.45, first seen coming south over Easington Square I believe? @spurnbirdobs.bsky.social @rarebirder.bsky.social @birdguides.bsky.social

Should be in Crown shortly, first of many parties so don't panic if you can't make this one, imagine it will start in conservatory and progress further in when eaters have gone. Everyone welcome
And one for my good friend
@sgriffiths1302.bsky.social If anyone can crank up the volume for him, feel free as I find bluesky a very difficult platform to use but will persist and hope it gets better
Sound up for swearing, sound down otherwise, and always remember....... fuck the system!
Thanks to everyone who's supported me through this 5 weeks nightmare and no thanks whatsoever to all the bastards that have kept me from fresh air and birding for 5 weeks. Birding is our therapy!
Tundra Bean Goose and five Russian White-fronts still on Easington Straight just South of Peter Lane
The 6 White-fronts and and Tundra Bean Goose still in fields north of Peter Lane, Easington early afternoon
And then, of course, there's the Barbados Bullfinch, certainly not a looker, but the islands only endemic bird, though even that is dependent on which birding list you worship!
Three of the commonest birds in Barbados. Zenaida Dove is quite a stunner IMO and ground doves are cute. As for Collared Doves, there's lots of really pale ones like this, probably an effect of the sun, me thinks?

A mix of waterbirds at Woodbourne Shorebird Refuge included Ringed-necked Ducks, Lesser Scaups and American Coots
An obliging American Purple Gallinule on the Lily beds at Woodbourne Shorebird Refuge, Barbados
Lesser and Greater Yellowlegs. Straightforward when together but more care needed when difficulty with size context. My memory for calling fly-bys still seems to hold firm though, Lesser calls can be quite Greenshank like, but Greater sounds more like Greenshank than Greenshank!
And Greater Yellowlegs
Lesser Yellowlegs at Woodbourne Shorebird Refuge
Several immature Little Blue Herons at the refuge too
A couple of visits to Woodbourne Shorebird Refuge produced lots of birds, including Black-crowned Night Herons of various ages
Carib Grackle, piercing call, piercing eye!
Green-throated Carib, common around the hotel, also lots of noisy Banaquits and Grey Kingbirds
