I feel people get too wrapped up in the identity of being an AI ‘artist’. Here’s the thing, If I commission someone to make art, it doesn’t make me an artist.

If I tell them to change something about the pic, I’m still not the artist.

Art requires vision. And AI takes none.

So while I still wish this case would’ve gone to trial, and believe the amount given per work should have been EVEN higher, $1.5 billion in settlement AND the destruction of infringing datasets is still a fantastic start! Congratulations to all those involved as these things are not easy!
