Phase Three, Insertion, takes place two weeks later, when my pregnancy is confirmed. They pop in some of the Beast Souls that the hunters and Arcadion fighters used to use, to put them back into proper, natural circulation, as it were.

In the second panel, Lover is standing in his bedroom at home a few months later, gently cupping his belly, which now bears a small but undeniable bump. He is wearing a Vanguard Bolero of Aiming & Neon Street Cargo Trousers & Vanguard Shoes of Aiming in white, grey, pink & black, & is smiling fondly down at his growing belly. His narration text reads as follows:
By introducing the Beast Souls so early, we enable them to take over completely, so not only can what would probably only have been one baby become multiple when multiple souls are introduced, but the resulting offspring, when they're born, are indistinguishable from their natural-born counterparts.

A further continuation. In the 1st panel, Lover, now very visibly pregnant, is leaning on a bar with Darling, a Hyur Highlander. Darling has tanned skin & short-clipped burgundy hair & is wearing a grape purple t-shirt & black cargo trousers. He's smoothly putting an arm around Lover as he also leans flirtily on the bar. Lover has a glass of water, which he has paused in lifting to his lips to turn & smile at Darling. Lover's jacket is open to accomodate his swollen chest & belly. His narration reads:
Most surrogates are women, & most of them don't need to undergo the first phase of the procedure, Inducement. However, because I was lucky enough to have my change when I was young, I never developed a natural cycle, & so my fertile period has to be induced before I can be fertilised & impregnated. Either way, this is all very normalised now. Surrogates are well respected, & we have our every need met while we're working.
In the 2nd panel, Lover is relaxing on a couch at Mosiac some time later, with a hand on his now due belly. "Sweetheart", an Au Ra Raen man with dark purple skin, ivory coloured scales & horns and white hair, is sitting with him.
Sweetheart: So, have you figured out what you're having yet, lover? You're huge this time! It must be a litter of something, surely!
Lover: Haha, oh, sweetheart. [heart] It doesn't feel like a litter. It's been a long one too, so I'm sure it must be something big. I've a few guesses in mind, but we'll see when I deliver tomorrow, won't we. [heart]
Lover's narration reads:
The second phase, Gestation, can vary a bit depending on what I'm carrying, with bigger, more powerful creatures usually taking longer. The big ones are my favourites; I love being pregnant, so it's wonderful when it lasts for a long time, & I usually start to show really early, too. This being my seventh pregnancy, I'm probably the most experienced surrogate they have, so Dr Larimar is happy to let me have the big ones. Everyone gets what they want. [heart]
