I'm already kinda not a fan of a lot of the Homestuck Being About Homestuck phase, but in the Dancestors case it kinda winds up feeling mean spirited, and also really dates the alpha trolls even more than the previous characters. 2010s Homestuck Fandom is so specific.

I cannot for the life of me understand how some people like the dancestors
forgettable at best insufferable at worst, and not insufferable in the fun way

IMO they either rely too heavily on gimmicks, or their gimmicks are too niche/dated/offensive (thanks Damara)

they have a bunch of guys whose jobs it is to make new flavors and these guys are desperate to keep their cushy jobs where they basically dont do anything so they keep putting out bullshit to justify their jobs existing when all the best flavors were found already
