Another historical Canadian woman artist for Women's History Month. Sybil Andrews wanted to pursue art after school, but she couldn't because she didn't have enough money. She took art classes while working as a welder during World War I, manufacturing planes.

October is Women's History Month. To celebrate, WAM will be sharing some facts about women artists. During the Second World War, Freda was a nurse for the Red Cross. She moved to Vankleek Hill, Ontario after her service and became famous for painting on the ground with a long paintbrush.

Fun facts about Myra: She is from Qamani’tuaq, the only inland Inuit community in Nunavut. She started making traditional garments to support her family. She then moved printmaking and drawing when the government opened an arts program in 1961. Learn more about Myra and other women artists at WAM!
