Reminder that it is Native American Heritage Month!

MA executive order 637 granted the Herring Pond Wampanoag Tribe state recognition. A huge step affirming Wampanoag sovereignty and allowing self governing, strengthing cultural identity, and granting the land recognition that is deserved. The next goal is federal recognition. Thank you, Governor!

The Wampanoag Tribe has inhabited Massachusetts for over 12,000 years. As we approach Thanksgiving, we must remember The Wampanoag played a crucial role in helping the Pilgrims survive. A moment of cross-cultural cooperation that would tragically give way to centuries of displacement and loss.
