If you read the clues and the tea leaves, the elections today could signal a direction to possibly end the government shutdown.

Or not…what do I know?
I love this time of year…racing grilling to beat darkness. <\sarcasm>

That or I could just do the “early bird specials”.
Dang…384 hour run of the 12Z GFS is rain free for DFW…

Wonder if the drier trend relates to warmer temps…warmest Nov is 63.5 F set in 2016.
Iced tea tastes better when served in a mason jar…
DFW finished Oct 2025 as the 4th warmest Oct…5.7F above normal.

For 2025, 10 months down and we sit at 6 above normal by an average 2.78F and the 4 below with an average of -1.25F.
With everything going on, I am going to try to mix in some more positive items here and there to try and offset some of this…

But I will not budge on my Battered Aggie Syndrome. That will still flow strong…
Ahh yes fall across the DFW, the smell of fireplaces with these frigid 57F degree evenings…
Lunch musings…

From a seasonal verification standpoint, Melissa tipped the scales to “mixed”: above normal ACE, # major hurricanes, and major hurricane days with below normal # named storms and hurricanes as well as storm days and hurricane days… unless the W Caribbean enters the chat at the end.
Very strong recommendation to follow this cat here…

He always shares some really interesting weather/tropical topics…
Slow-moving #Melissa was quite effective at extracting energy from the warm water below it. This 10-day loop of ocean heat content tells the story, and more decreases will show up closer to Jamaica and Cuba in the coming days.

Lunch musing…

For everyone clamoring for this weather…

20 knot wind and misting…like standing in front of a toddler sneezing on you constantly.

Nevermind that is just rained 4 1/2 inches three days ago and we don’t need to run the sprinklers this soon in late October.
So I go to punch in the code to get into the entry gate to the parking lot, and the sprinkler shoots into my open car window…how is your day going?
For DFW, Oct 2025 was ahead of the record warmest Oct pace (set last year by the way) right up until the end…

But much like me running a 400M, Oct 2025 gets caught in the home stretch and will be interesting to see if it holds in the top 10.
That was as complete of a half of Ag football that I have seen maybe in decades.
Did. Not. See. This. One. Coming.

Don’t let me get my hopes up.

A win and a cover on the road…

I am thinking of pulling a “Saban” and putting a bottle of Coca-Cola and a bottle of Dasani in front of me during my briefings.

But if drink Coke Zero…

And I don’t have a podium. Usually video…

And my camera is usually off.

But still…
By the way, the rains have started and I have talked to a few in the hydro world, and our Spidey senses are tingling.

By this time tomorrow, there could be some serious rain and impacts in Texas…
So as I stare down not getting a paycheck, I see that inflation is up, and that is GOOD news for the stock market.

Wish I was better and predicting college football and point spreads.

Hell, wish I was better at forecasting Mother Nature.
I nerded out once and charted the raw data on storms and Texas. Over the long run, about half the years Texas is “storm free”.
Oh big time need. We were just chatting about how rare the “100%” is on a graphic.

Just hope it comes down in “behavable” amounts.
When I say I like “hundos” in the forecast, this is not what I meant…
Took a break from looking at rain and hydro…

Wow, Melissa is going to point blank Jamaica as a major hurricane for days…

Not good. Sheesh.
Go to the WGRFC web page, left most drop down menu River Observations and Forecasts, Flash Flood Guidance takes you to a NWS GIS Viewer…
Getting ready to gird up my loins to lock horns with Mother Nature again.

I feel like freakin’ Sisyphus…

Zoning in on flood issues for N TX and DFW Metro, some of the high res models are putting out some beefy QPF.
Weird as it was the lowest since Christmas in my neighborhood of SW Fort Worth…
