This is my great-grandfather Albert Roberson. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky, 1858.

He was living in Colorado with his family when gold was discovered in the Yukon in July of 1897
This is my great-grandfather Albert Roberson. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky, 1858. He was living in Colorado with his wife and 2 children when gold was discovered in July of 1897 in the Yukon. He abandoned his family and 5 months later, Dec 9, 1897 he staked a claim on Gold Bottom Creek and filed the claim 2 days. Albert never made it rich and years later returned to Montana to live with his daughter's family, until his death in 1936. Photo taken alongside Montana Highway 35 near the Community of Beardance. My Grandfather's transport ship arrival postcard from World War I, indicating his safe arrival in Europe. German submarines were relentlessly sinking military and merchant ships in the Atlantic.

He was a Sargent with the American Expeditionary Forces in France.

7 years ago today, November 30, 2018 , a 7.1 earthquake struck south central Alaska. It shook things up pretty good.

After the event I ran a faucet and a red brown color flowed from the well. I ran the water into the tub and then drained the tub.

This is what was left. An intricate design.

Sad day in the house today. We had our cat, Kato, put to sleep. She was born to a feral mother in 2011 and adopted into a loving family. Kato, an international traveler rode down the Alcan highway in 2020. She is survived by her sister, Ginger and her brother Mica who still lives in Alaska, maybe?

Today we installed the new movie screen at the Bigfork Center for the Performing Arts.

This is how you lift a 900lb box screen 30 ft to attach it to the proscenium without a forklift or electric sissorjack.

A young child dressed in traditional clothing on a sled. Seal mukluks and parka with a wolverine ruff. It was said you could often tell where a person was from by the soles of their mukluks. Moose hide soles were used in the Interior where moose was common. Seal skin soles were found in coastal communities where marine animals were the main sources for subsistence foods and clothing materials. Each had its purpose, seal was waterproof and held up well in wet environments, although they were slippery. Moose was great in cold, dry, powdery snow but would wear and tear when subjected to wet environments. The mukluks were filled with straw or grasses for insulation. When felt boot liners were popular those were used.
