He probably had a few at one of the brewpubs in that area and didn't realize the change in altitude from NYC to Denver hits you even harder from the lower oxygen level. No surprise he stumbled and faceplanted.
It is downtown Denver. There is a few brewpubs in the vicinity so he was probably drunk combined with the change in altitude. Lack of oxygen makes you even more sluggish. Not surprised he kept tripping.
