A long one for y'all this week. 👀 Who is Akaashi talking to? 👀👀👀👀

But Keiji’s gaze caught on his hands. Large, rough, the veins standing out as they curled almost playfully around a small box of Marlboros.

Keiji had never used the word “sexy” in his life. It was crass; and, in his opinion, wildly overused by boys his age. Everything was sexy, according to them: the girl in 3-A, the nurse in the infirmary, the girls on the opposing team’s cheer squad.

Keiji never had the energy to argue; it hardly seemed worth it. Hormonal teenage boys were a special breed of passionate when it came to declaring what was “sexy.”

And now, standing there in this seedy part of town, Akaashi found himself struck by a new and startling understanding of that passion—for the first time in his life.

Keiji’s throat went dry.

“Sorry,” he managed to say, his voice coming out smaller than he intended. Sweat was already gathering beneath his fringe, hot and sticky against his skin. “I… I don’t smoke.”
