Every day is a special occasion to celebrate the Life of the GREATEST Artist of All-Time :

Mr Prince Rogers Nelson 🙏
Je me lasse pas de cette anecdote de Nile Rogers :

"That Queen record came about because that bass player spent some time hanging out with us at our studio. It was clearly an homage : John Deacon was with me in the studio when I wrote the damn thing (Good Times)"
Also featuring :
Bennie Maupin on bass clarinet
Guitarist Sonny Sharock
Chick Corea on electric keyboard
Dave Holland on electric bass
and Jack DeJohnette on drums

Deeply influenced by Hendrix & Sly Stone, "He definitely wanted to go towards more Funk" (J. McLaughlin)
February 24, 1971

54 years ago, Miles released "A Tribute To Jack Johnson"

featuring:
Drummer Billy Cobham (24-year old)
Bassist Michael Henderson (19-year old, fresh from Stevie Wonder’s road band)
Guitarist John McLaughlin
Herbie Hancock on the Fender Rhodes
Steve Grossman on soprano saxophone
"Well, it's the Funk Doctor Spot, the pon cock lyricist
My mentality's so def, yo, I ain't even hearin' this shit"

When Redman cleverly samples Just-Ice's Mantronik-produced single/song "Cold Gettin' Dumb", the result is PURE FUNK.

"Wake up, Redman, wake up
This is album three, can you hear me?"

28 years ago, Redman released his third album "Muddy Waters"
December 9, 1964

"Thankfully now, through the merciful hand of God, I do perceive and have been fully reinformed of his omnipotence. It is truly a love supreme. My goal is to live the truly religious life and express it through my music."

60 years ago, John Coltrane recorded "A Love Supreme"

“I consider Mr. Moog an absolute Genius” (M.Gaye)

Recently turned on to the Moog by Stevie (he gave him one as a gift), Marvin had fun with his new toy.

He reached his goal :releasing a jazz-based and largely instrumental Classic with "Trouble Man"

"Christmas Rappin'" did very well, selling about 400,000 copies
The second single was "The Breaks," did even BETTER and became the FIRST rap song certified Gold for selling over 500,000 copies.

Kurtis got the album deal and became the FIRST rapper signed to a MAJOR label.

#Legend
Known as he first rap song issued on a MAJOR label. Kurtis recorded it with the help of Legendary Larry Smith, Robert Ford and J.B. Moore.
They took it to Mercury Records, who signed Kurtis to a two-single deal, under the condition that if both singles were successful, he would get an album deal.

"'Cause money could never ever buy the feeling
The one that comes from not concealing
The way you you feel about your friends
And this is how the story ends"

40 years ago, Beverly Hills Cop released in theaters

More than just a movie, it’s a perfect combination of action and comedy that just redefined the Genre

When Eddie Murphy steps onto the screen as Axel Foley, the charismatic Detroit detective, it feels as if a dynamo has been unleashed.. a Star!
