Cassie and Sam's story in a nutshell

Gardenman, an incubus made of sentient plant matter, plotting to use Cassie and Sam to gestate an army of demons! The two of them sloppily make out in the background, with Cassie visibly pregnant.

Two nights later, postpartum Cassie performs a blood ritual and speaks Gardenman's true name to fight back...! (Ligma Balls isn't actually his true name)

Cassie and Sam make out sloppily in the background in the exact same position as last time, now with Sam pregnant. A captured Gardenman sulks in his dinky flower vase, unable to be more than a free demon pregnancy generator.

also, the whole "just explore and find stuff to make the game easier! :)" thing doesn't really work fully until Act 2; you can get lots of tools, sure, but you can literally only get One Extra Health in all of Act 1, when most bosses deal 2 damage, lmao

let's seeeee, of the top of my head;
- the flying enemy AI... 😩
- red tools needing shards + most things requiring rosaries makes repeated deaths super punishing, even if it makes ludonarrative sense
- nearly every enemy/boss having contact damage is kinda obnoxious and nonsensical (see: Beastfly)

on one hand, Hornet feels SO fun to control once you get the sprint and combat is an absolute blast... but on the other hand, some parts of the game got me like "gee, this level of rude design kinda reminds me of Fear & Hunger," and i'm not sure if i wanted the game to elicit that, lmao

on top of the Bud quest, it's almost comical how many times i was like, "surely this'll be the last NPC focused on pregnancy-adjacent stuff," and then two hours later, i stumble in to another NPC who's like "i fucking LOVE eating food and giving birth" lmaooooo - truly the mark of peak
