The first president of the Chechen Republic, Dzhokhar Dudayev, foresaw russia's imperial aspirations as early as the 1990s and believed that Ukraine's independence would mark the end of russia as an empire. Dudayev died in the Chechen war against russia while defending Chechnya.

Power supply has been disrupted in occupied Crimea, with a substation in Simferopol possibly hit, monitoring group "Crimean Wind" reports.
Explosions were also heard near the village of Hvardiyskoye, where russian #Shahed drone launch depots are located.

A huge fire has broken out at the largest oil terminal on the peninsula in temporarily occupied Crimea. Flames can be seen dozens of kilometers away. Fuel shortages have already reached 56%, public transport is being restricted and fuel withdrawal limits have been introduced.
