The 2025 WHO Global Antibiotic Resistance Surveillance Report is out. Rising rates of carbapenem resistance in Acinetobacter and Enterobacterales and fluoroquinolone resistance in Salmonella are especially concerning. We are rapidly running out of new drugs.

On a positive note, declines in communicable diseases including diarrheal illness, TB and measles have contributed to decreases in overall mortality.
