Just want to take a second and say the deepest of thank yous to everyone who has ever kept an eye on a stranger/acquaintance/neighbor/friend when someone was being creepy. Somebody did that for me today (everything is okay!) and it made me feel so cared for. Community is great, actually.

Australia's humpback whales are doing so well that their population is expected to reach carrying capacity and plateau in the near future--they have not just reached but exceeded pre-whaling numbers. For this to happen with such a long-lived, slow-reproducing species is near miraculous. #goodnews

These whales were hunted to 150 individuals. Now there are 50,000 of them

Once hunted almost to extinction, the population of humpback whales currently migrating down Australia's east coast has bounced back and is now greater than before whaling.

The lather on good store's shampoo bars is pretty awesome and I've had a lot of luck with their longevity (my hair is fine, but thick, and decently long), if that feedback helps. Good luck in your shampoo journey! I hope you find an option that works for you and makes your hair feel great!

Three high schoolers founded a book club that reads some of the country's most frequently banned books after a state law removing books with sexual content was signed in 2023. Two years later, many of the books have been reshelved and parts of the law can't be enforced.

Also anything you can do to take advantage of the vertical space (wall shelves, window beds) can help with making sure they get enough enrichment! Some of the cat shelf things are really cute these days!

(not a cat person, but for her majesty): they make indoor friendly pet gates/pet fences that you can use to try and block the front door (or at least make it harder to jailbreak). Might be worth looking at your options?
It's gonna be okay--cats do well in apartments and there's loads you can do!

I want a slide that is just a reminder that these people strap, effectively, knives to their feet and then do spins and moves with those knives and Humans are the weirdest, coolest nerds. As someone who is new to ice skating, I feel like that doesn't get acknowledged enough.

So... fun fact, if you ask nicely enough, most friends and acquaintances will respect your desire for this. Miara's first caretaker (her breeder) straight up blurred my face out of her posts because I asked her not to post my photo on socials. Not sure how it will work w/ family, but it can be done!
