I've been very busy lately and still recovering from burnout but I'll be slowly chipping away at this! I'm hoping to have it finished by the end of the season!

He should have known better than to travel into the old wood after hearing the skirting town’s rumors about the damned place. But he had accepted a hunt request for a rare herb that supposedly can only be found here. Cid groans, tilting his head to the side as a sword is held to his neck. He doesn't give the viera the satisfaction of his glare, instead looking to the forest around him. If he can just find that damned herb he could get out of here. As his luck would have it, while not what he is looking for there is however, a strange looking plant covered in dust- or pollen maybe- might just be within his reach. If he can grab hold of that and throw it at the viera then maybe he can get the upper hand in the fight... or at least have time to make a quick escape. He feints raising his hand up to surrender, reaching instead toward the nearby plant. His fingertips barely brush the velvety bulb, his skin immediately having an adverse reaction to the pollen. Fire burning at his fingers and itching up his arm he pushes closer, grabbing the strange plant tight in his fist and tugging. Pollen shoots out from the base of the plant, Cid getting a face full of the bloody stuff. He sputters, coughing and hacking at the bitterness coating his mouth. (check next image for rest!) There’s sudden pressure around his ankles and then he’s moving, getting dragged across the rough, uneven forest floor. And if he’s honest, he probably couldn’t walk if he tried as the sensations in his arms and chest have now started to spread to his lower body, albeit in a... much different way than he'd like. Few days ago, I cleared the main part of Monster Hunter Wilds!
I played this lovely story as a hunter like Cid. It was sooo good!!
Well. In conclusion, I thought it would be interesting if Cid as a young man had made a career as a hunter on the outer continent before crossing over to Valisthea. (Aside from the chronological part of the canonical history, their age settings and all that stuff) He then imagined what would happen if that famous interdimensional item box, the familiar from Monster Hunter, were placed in Cid's solar. Clive would no doubt be appalled by the equipment stored in that item box. ‘Cid, this armour is fully open in the back, can you really protect your body with this kind of equipment?’ 'Oh, this is, well, you know, what the hell. It's not a problem.’ 'Really?’ 'Of course, you can try it on if you like.’ It would be interesting if they had such a conversation. But would probably be ‘terrible’ things. LMAO

While I was drawing this, I kept thinking about something like Firestorm for cats. (cat AU?) Clive is not very cat-like, personality more like a dog who is loyal to his owner. Cid has a very cat-like free-spirited personality and is tsundere to his owner. Clive and Cid are domesticated cats living in the same house. It could be a multi-cat home like the Hideaway, where Otto, Gav and Tarja are also present. Cid is the kind of cat who often walks around outside without a stray tag. Clive is worried about Cid and always follows him on his walks. Cid actually likes that it a lot. Cid takes walks here and there as he pleases. One day, when Clive is getting a bit fed up with Cid's long walks, Clive gets separated from Cid and gets lost. Clive gets lost and gets into a fight with a bad cat who is hostile towards Cid. Clive really hates getting involved in cat fights (he thinks it's so silly and pointless) and tries to leave the place peacefully, but a belligerent cat like Hugo won't let him get away with it. When Cid finds Clive curled up in an alleyway after a storm of one-sided conflict has passed, he makes fun of him, saying, “You're a pathetic guy, Clive.” That is not an insult. Cid knows that Clive is not really a wimp and is trying to encourage him. And, er, what was it? Yes, this is #clivecid. Really I want Bottom!Cid. Actually, Clive is strong. So much that he can completely hold down Cid (meaningful) In other words, a story about a cat with a dog-like personality pushing down a cat-like cat. Ahhh, what am I saying? Clive likes Cid, but he doesn't want to hold him down by force. The mutual fondness is definitely a two-way street. Well, it's not going to progress very well. Uugh, somebody knead this blanket as you like.

 He loses fights not because he is weak, but because he is gentle.
 He doesn't really want to fight.
 He doesn't even mind wearing stray tags! Unlike Cid lol
