Behind the headlines children in Ukraine are bracing for a 4th winter of war.

Last week alone, strikes killed 3 children and injured 19.

But support from Ireland is helping.

UNICEF is providing warm clothes, heating and essentials to keep families safe.

A new UNICEF report warns 820,000 children could die from AIDS-related causes by 2040 without urgent action.

Since October UNICEF has delivered 9,849 pallets of aid to Gaza.

But the situation is deteriorating rapidly.

UNICEF Ireland is calling on the Irish Government, EU partners, and international community to press for the removal of all restrictions on aid.

Speaking from Gaza, UNICEF’s James Elder told RTÉ Morning Ireland that children are smiling as they now hope for a better future.
