The Secretary-General is deeply concerned by the situation in #Tanzania following the general elections of 29 October. He calls on all stakeholders to exercise restraint, reject violence and engage in inclusive and constructive dialogue to address grievances and prevent further escalation.

Investing in women's participation in political processes is investing in sustainable and lasting peace. As we mark 25 years since the adoption of #UNSCR1325, let us renew our shared commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment for a sustainable tomorrow.

It was a full house as countries backing the Secretary-General’s #CommonPledge on Women’s Participation in Peace Processes showcased on Tuesday at #UNHQ how they are moving from commitment to action — advancing women’s meaningful participation in peace and mediation efforts. #WPS

Briefing the Security Council, Assistant Secretary-General Martha Pobee called for an immediate cessation of hostilities, an end to external interference, and renewed talks under the AU-IGAD-LAS-UN Quartet to stop Sudan’s descent into fragmentation.
