Oh my goodness! Thank you! This “new to me” MCM solid red oak sofa and 2 chairs was made by the gentleman’s grandfather who sold it to me for $500. The green wool velvet cushions are original. I stripped and refinished it with a walnut stain and satin polyurethane.

Sometimes “low support needs” is actually “high masking”, until burnout occurs. This applies especially to late diagnosed autistic people, who mask autism for decades until it all falls apart.

If autism were preventable, someone really smart would have figured that out by now. Blaming a mother, pre- or postnatally, for a child’s genetics, disability or birth injury is misogynistic. They will start with autism but it won’t end there.

Internalized autism is also more common among female-presenting autists, whose “special interests” are typically more socially expected/acceptable for girls and women.

Also known as “high-masking” autism and under the ableist labels, “low support needs” or “high functioning”. But really, this just means that I hold it all together until I am home or until I am in a safe environment where I can fall apart (have a shutdown), sometimes for days.

One more, just in time for #caturday. My two beans, Siamese cross. The upper one, Hugo, has the blue eyes and muted colouring. The lower one, Esmeralda, looks like a regular tabby but has the Siamese voice and vocabulary.

These are the kittens I searched for and found online for my sister to adopt. They are Maine Coone crossed with domestic cat. Linus and Lucy are celebrating their first #Caturday in their new home - in a box!

Also to point out, the H1B visa is commonly a stepping stone to a Green card application. So this will likely impact the path to US citizenship for many people.

The last time I held an H1B (high tech sector), the company that hired me paid all legal and application fees. So if I’m correct, the cost of the H1B will be born by US employers, not foreign applicants.

Additional thoughts: telling an autistic child to “clean your room” is especially vague and subject to interpretation. The need for specificity can be wrongly interpreted as willful disobedience when it is not.

And because we ask “Why?” to people above us, they label and interpret us as “rude”. This applies to autistic adults as well, especially in the workplace.

What people ask us to do just needs to make sense. It’s not that hard really. Because we ask “why?”, is one of the reasons they say that autistics don’t recognize hierarchy.

He shouldn’t have to move to Canada to have his constitutional and human rights respected. Also: even though American “constitutional rights” do not exist in Canada there are still rules about due process rights.

Not surprising. The meathead who invented conversion “therapy” for LGBTQ+ people, which is illegal in Canada, also invented applied behaviour analysis (ABA) for autistic people. Both of these “therapies” are inhumane. When they come for one of us, they come for us all.
