“I love working for University Hospitals of Liverpool Group because although I’m only new, I have already met lots of wonderful colleagues from different organisations, services & professional groups. I appreciate everyone’s support while I establish in my role & get to grips with my portfolio.
Sarah’s role primarily focuses on the non-medical workforce, eg non-medical prescribing (NMP) and patient group directions (PGDs). Sarah also maintains an academic role as Associate Professor of Healthcare Leadership and loves supporting colleagues with audit, service improvement and research.
Sarah works as a Lead Pharmacist for Medicines Mechanisms, which are the legal frameworks for medicines supply and administration, as part of the Medicines Governance Team.

Justin says “I enjoy my role as a Pharmacist because, before our Electronic Patient Record, someone had to explain to patients why their doctor’s handwriting looks like a secret code!”
This includes experience in attending consultant-led MDT ward rounds with high dependency care and infection control responsibilities.
Justin is a rotational Senior Clinical Pharmacist at Liverpool Women’s Hospital.

Our rotational posts at Liverpool Women’s build expertise in delivering a clinical Pharmacy service to Gynaecology, Maternity as well as our Level 3 Neonatal unit.
Connie adds “I enjoy working as a Pharmacist for UHLG as I have a split role across respiratory clinical practice and Education & Training. No day is ever the same and I enjoy variety in my job!”
Megan says “I enjoy working as a Pharmacist at UHLG because I get to make a real difference in patient care every day while collaborating with a fantastic multidisciplinary team”
Our Pharmacist teams work across many clinical areas, with specialist roles supporting the development of structured rotational roles, allowing Pharmacists to gain experience in many different clinical areas.
Megan works as a rotational Clinical Pharmacist and Connie has a specialist role across both respiratory medicine and our Education & Training team.
Ben says “I enjoy being a part of a wide MDT, working with colleagues across UHLG to implement new and improved digital systems and solutions which help to facilitate safer and more efficient patient care”
Our digital medicines team keep us running behind the scenes, handling over 300 requests for change and help and over 200 routine data reports each month as well as managing the introduction of our digital medicines projects and developments.
Ben is our Lead Pharmacist for digital medicines, managing our Electronic Prescribing System and other key Pharmacy IT requirements.
Nelson says “In our Aseptic Pharmacy unit, our HPN services enable patients to be discharged and spend time at home in a more comfortable environment. I am proud to be part of a team that make a difference to patient care”
Nelson is an Advanced Pharmacist in Aseptic Services. Last year our sterile aseptic units prepared over 34,000 doses of parenteral nutrition.
