This fight for academic freedom and the safety of our students is not over. We must continue to organize against the higher ed compact and against federal interference in our universities.

Now, Horne aims to do the exact same thing at OUR universities.

If you want to know what ABOR and the Trump admin are planning for us, do not read their "statement of principles." Rather, you should look at their actions, which go against every single one of those principles.
Tom Horne, an ABOR member, confirmed that the compact wasn't rejected. Horne once helped pass a law that banned ethnic studies - a federal judge determined Horne's legislation illegal and "motivated by a desire to advance a political agenda by capitalizing on race-based fears."
It has been falsely reported that the U of A "rejected" Trump's compact for higher education.

UA President Garimella made clear that he merely rejected the first draft. He continues to negotiate behind our backs with the Trump administration on the basis of shared "principles."
Our message remains the same - University of Arizona workers reject the higher ed compact.

Our work is not over - we must continue to organize against the higher ed compact and against federal interference in our universities.

News outlets across the state have reported on Garimella's "rejection" of the compact. Reading his statement, it is clear that Garimella has not rejected the compact - he is continuing negotiations with the Presidential administration.
On Monday, October 20th, Garimella released a statement in which he wrotes, "the university has not agreed to the terms outlined in the draft proposal, but instead submitted a Statement of Principles to the Department of Education that I am sharing with you."
Our membership and concerned UA community members came together almost every day last week at teach-ins and rallies, unified around one clear message: NO to the compact!
Last week, we sent an open letter to University of Arizona President Garimella, urging him to publicly reject Trump’s higher-ed compact.

The problem isn’t that people don’t want to work. The problem is too many jobs don’t pay enough to live.
You can learn more about the microcampuses shutdown and sign our petition in solidarity with the abandoned workers and students at ucwarizona.org/official-sta....
Did you know that the University of Arizona had four microcampuses in China? Well, not anymore!

UA announced the closure of all academic programs and contracts in China - abandoning some 2,200 students, 36 faculty, and 4 staff - on Sept. 17th as advance compliance to federal opinions.
No compact! Protect our campus!
