To entertain and pass the time inside the plants during the GM Flint sit-down strike, the "Hillbilly Orchestra" played popular folk tunes, as well as songs composed specifically for the occasion. The Orchestra included workers who played guitar, harmonica, banjo, and violin.

Met Museum staff at the vote tally for their NLRB union election. Workers voted by a 76% margin to unionize with Local 2110. The 900-person unit is composed of staff across fifty different departments of the Museum, including curators, conservators, librarian retail sales staff, and more.

🧵 Staff of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, NY, have voted by a 76% margin in a National Labor Relations Board election to unionize with UAW Local 2110. The ballot tally was 542 yes votes for the union with 172 votes against.

One of my other jobs was as a "handburner" (welding, cutting torch) at the Caterpillar Tractor Co. I moved up to a better, daytime job on the assembly line. I have on the black Rolling Stones T-shirt on in this group photo. Was a proud UAW member. @uaw.org

This is a moral failure, not a financial failure. Instead of bargaining over fair pay, Conn-Selmer decided to ship its Ohio operations to China. Hundreds of union jobs are on the chopping block so billionaires can reap more profits. UAW members are gearing up for a big fight to keep these jobs.
